This 30 credit hour educational administration online program from TAMIU is designed to enhance your ability to pass required Texas Education Agency principal exams, such as the new Principal 268 and Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL) Certification Assessment. Taught by experienced practitioners, the M.S. Ed Admin curriculum emphasizes organizational and instructional leadership to help you develop exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on supporting student success.
Coursework includes Principalship; Advanced Problems in Supervision; and Public School Law. You will complete the educational administration online degree with a practicum so you can demonstrate key competencies under the supervision of a university supervisor and a field mentor in at least three different education levels (elementary, middle and high school).

Curriculum for the Master of Science in Educational Administration online program is comprised of 10 courses (30 credit hours), including a fixed first course (EDAM 5301: School Administration) and and a two-part practicum (EDAM 5335 and EDAM 5336).

EDAM 5301: School Administration
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
In this course, organizational theories are examined. Coursework focuses on organizational leadership as well as problem-solving and decision-making techniques, characteristics and applications.
EDAM 5305: Organization & Evaluation of Curriculum
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
The course describes how the school administrator facilitates and supports the implementation of a sound curriculum and appropriate instructional strategies designed to promote optimal learning for all students.
EDAM 5319: Administration of School Facilities and Finance
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course deals with the systematic planning of school facilities, including school finance and technology, and its applications to curricular outcomes. Finance will include theory and practices of business management, basic accounting, internal accounting procedures and Texas public school finance. Additionally, theory and understanding of how to build a budget for a school campus is included.

Designed to address administrative preparation, this course covers site-based management, program planning and assessment, personnel management, legal problems, public relations, pupil accounting, scheduling, facilities, finance, and budgeting.

This course includes the legal basis for education, with special emphasis on the federal and state educational provisions.
EDAM 5327: Advanced Problems in Supervision
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
The course examines contemporary supervisory processes, problems and research related to effective instructional performance. Participants receive training in teacher appraisal.
EDAM 5338: Administration of Special Programs
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course focuses on the administration and supervision of special programs. Local policies related to state and federal standards will be examined.
EDGR 5323: Data Driven Decision Making in Education
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course explores key issues in educational research and practice, particularly the focus on test scores to measure student achievement and educational effectiveness. It will examine what test scores, as well as other school-based data, mean. Further discussion focuses on how to descriptively analyze educational data, interpret data and use data to make decisions about student learning and school improvement. Prerequisites: graduate standing and admission to the College of Education.
EDAM 5335: Practicum in School Administration I
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course focuses on observation, shadowing, and working to solve problems with a school administrator under the guidance of a university professor. Students will be required to complete eighty (80) hours of field work. Assignments include the implementation of techniques and styles of administrative behavior in a school setting.
EDAM 5336: Practicum in School Administration II
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course focuses on the application of administrative tasks in an internship field-based experience. The course requires the development of an action research plan for change based on a need linked to a campus improvement plan. The course requires eighty (80) hours of field work completed under the direction of a university professor and a school supervisor. Assignments include the implementation of techniques and styles of administrative behavior in a school setting. Prerequisite: EDAM 5335.
