Career Highlights:
Teaching undergraduate-, master-, and doctoral-level courses in Finance and Economics at Texas A&M International University. My broader research interests are in empirical asset pricing, especially related to international finance and foreign exchange markets. My single-authored paper on the topic of carry trades has been published in the “Journal of International Money and Finance.” I received a Certificate in Effective College Instruction, co-issued by Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and American Council on Education (ACE) in 2021. I’m a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).
I worked as a Senior Foreign Exchange Trader and Macroeconomic Analyst for the largest insurance company in Taiwan. The Currency Department hedges foreign exchange risk of foreign investments accounting for $26 billion (40% of total assets). I designed and executed proxy model hedge for foreign exchange risk, including basket hedge and overlay hedge, traded major currencies, emerging Asian currencies, currency swaps, and non-deliverable forwards, and I provided analysis reports for the President and the Board of Directors. I worked as a Senior Assistant Manager in the Securitization Division of the largest local investment bank in Taiwan where I arranged, evaluated and forecasted the cash flow distribution of the securitized products and restructured a state-operated financial institution's balance sheet to avoid bankruptcy.

The courses deal with the theoretical and empirical aspects of the firms operating in an international business environment and aim at developing a body of knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to make financial decisions for such global enterprises. Emphasizing broad concepts and real-world practices, the courses explore the international integration of financial markets and provide a clear conceptual framework for making key financial decisions in multinational enterprises.
Upon successful completion of the courses, each student will interpret the relation between trade, international flow of funds and exchange rates, apply strategies to currency risk management using derivatives, and interpret the relation between international arbitrage, interest rates, inflation and exchange rates.
What advice would you give to those considering this online program?
The students in the online program must have honesty, self-motivation, care, duty and the ability to use technology to enhance the learning experience. The program requires you to read, think and apply those traits to real-world business.
